Apr. 21st, 2008 05:30 pmWas reading the discussion linked to on
metafandom about feedback, and I had a tangential little language nerd moment. The list-based fen were all using LOC as the proper term, and feedback got thrown around a lot, but I realized that as an eljay-era fanbrat I only think it terms of commenting. And I wonder if that's not part of the functional gap of feedback practices - I know that if I thought I was leaving a "letter of comment" each time I replied to a bit of fic, I'd feel like it had to, y'know, actually say something. Whereas it's totally okay for a comment to just be hey, I read your thing, and it was shiny.
